Adult Learning and Education
Knowledge in
Adult Education
Despite the
unique characteristics of the adult learners, it is my personal opinion that
learning is a continuous life-long process.
The fact that one has vast past
experience does not limit his/her acquisition of new knowledge. Thus knowledge
based on adult education in my opinion as an adult educator is the overall
result of a learning process which enlightens a learner, challenges beliefs and
is applicable to help the learners achieve their goals for the learning process
(Wlodkowski, 2008).
For example in the training of employees, knowledge is the
result of their ability to apply the content learnt in their operations. It may
range from acquisitions of skill, new content, a different perspective to
content or overall general knowledge acquired from a learning process (Pratt,
2002).
